Functional Toll Roads Deployed for 2024 Eid Homecoming

19 April 2024

The Eid homecoming journey is notorious for its traffic jams, with toll roads seeing long lines of vehicles inching forward. In a strategic move to alleviate congestion in critical areas, Jasa Marga has opened seven toll roads as "functional toll roads" for the 2024 Eid season.

These toll roads are designed to facilitate smoother travel during the peak homecoming and return periods, despite being operational under temporary conditions.

Functional toll roads, while open for use, come with their set of limitations. The absence of street lighting and rest areas are notable, emphasizing their temporary and unfinished state. Planned to serve travelers from 6 AM to 5 PM daily between April 4th and April 16th, 2024, these toll roads are a testament to Indonesia's proactive approach to managing Eid travel flows.

7 Functional Toll Roads for Eid Al-Fitr 2024

Cimanggis - Cibitung Toll Road, Section IIB (Cikeas - Cibitung)

This stretch of toll road, spanning approximately 19.65 km, completes the remaining unlinked portion of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road II (JORR II). Traffic here is managed in a one-way format, so it's crucial to stay informed about the traffic schedule.

For those traveling home, the route from Nagrak to Cibitung will be open from April 4th to April 11th, 2024. For the return journey, the direction switches, with traffic flowing from Cibitung back to Nagrak from April 12th to April 16th, 2024.

It's noteworthy that the JORR II toll road stretches from Cengkareng through Kunciran, Serpong, Cinere, Cimanggis, and Cibitung, to Cilincing, ending at Tanjung Priok Harbor.

This extensive network covers a total distance of 111 km. Thanks to the opening of this functional toll road, all segments of the JORR II are now seamlessly connected.

Jakarta - Cikampek II South Toll Road, Package III (Kutanegara - Sadang)

This 8.5 km stretch is anticipated to serve as an alternative route, facilitating smoother travel between the Cipularang Toll Road (Cikampek–Purwakarta–Padalarang) from Bandung to Jakarta and the main Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. Operating on a situational basis, this functional toll road section isn't continuously open, so plan accordingly.

Travelers heading towards Jakarta can access this route via the Sadang Interchange Toll Gate, situated near Km 77 on the Cipularang Toll Road. From there, you'll merge onto a non-toll road for approximately 15-20 km before rejoining the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, either through the Karawang Timur Toll Gate or Karawang Barat Toll Gate.

Solo - Yogyakarta - YIA Toll Road: Colomadu to Klaten Section

Traveling from Colomadu Toll Gate to Klaten can now be a breeze, taking you only about 25 minutes. This 22 km stretch of toll road is a game-changer, allowing you to bypass 15 traffic lights that are notorious for causing delays.

For those heading home, access to this functional toll road is available through the Banyudono Toll Gate and Colomadu Toll Gate. On the flip side, during the return journey, entrances are open at Ngawen (Klaten) and Karanganom Toll Gate, leading you back to Banyudono Toll Gate or Colomadu Toll Gate.

Bangkinang - Koto Kampar Toll Road

Experience a significant cut in travel time between Pekanbaru and Koto Kampar with this new toll road. What used to take 3 hours can now be done in just about 1.5 hours! This 24.7 km stretch is a crucial extension of the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road, streamlining your journey like never before. While this functional toll road segment itself is free, it's important to note that charges still apply for the preceding sections of the road.

Kuala Tanjung - Tebing Tinggi - Parapat Toll Road

This toll road features two key functional sections, affectionately referred to as "kutepat": the Tebing Tinggi - Sinaksak stretch, covering 45 km, and the shorter Indrapura-Kuala Tanjung stretch, which is 9 km long.

The Tebing Tinggi - Sinaksak section is a two-way operational road. Remember, tapping at either the Dolok Merawan Toll Gate or the Sinaksak Toll Gate is mandatory for travelers. On the other hand, the Indrapura - Kuala Tanjung section serves as an extension of the Tebing Tinggi - Indrapura toll road and will be open to traffic situationally, depending on the flow and density of vehicles.

Indrapura - Kisaran Toll Road Section II (Lima Puluh - Kisaran)

Standing out among functional toll roads, the Indrapura – Kisaran Toll Road Section II, stretching 32.15 km from Lima Puluh to Kisaran, is set to operate around the clock.

This 24-hour operation marks a significant shift in travel dynamics between Medan and Kisaran, slashing the journey time by half. What used to be a 5-hour drive is now anticipated to be just 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Kayuagung - Palembang - Betung Toll Road

This functional stretch of the Kayu Agung - Palembang - Betung (Kapal Betung) Toll Road, extending from Musi Landas to Pangkalan Balai, spans 22 kilometers as a one-way route.

Given its contoured roads and limited lighting, this section is designated for use primarily in emergency scenarios or to alleviate congestion on the eastern highway of Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra.

Important Travel Updates: Bocimi Toll Road Landslide and Odd-Even Rule

Bocimi Toll Road Incident:

For travelers looking forward to using the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) toll road for the 2024 Eid homecoming, please note a significant change.

Due to a landslide at KM 64, Section II of the Bocimi toll road will not be operational for the Eid travel season. Traffic towards Sukabumi will be rerouted through the Cigombong Toll Gate to accommodate necessary repairs.

Odd-Even Rule on Jakarta - Kalikangkung Toll Road:

Additionally, the Jakarta - Kalikangkung toll road (KM 0 - KM 414 Trans Jawa) will implement the odd-even rule during specific periods to manage traffic flow more efficiently. For outbound travelers, the rule applies from KM 0 to KM 414 as follows:

  • April 5, 2024, from 2 PM to midnight
  • April 7, 2024, from 8 AM to midnight daily

For the return journey, the reverse flow odd-even rule applies from KM 414 to KM 0 during these times:

  • April 12, 2024, from 2 PM to midnight
  • April 13-14, 2024, from 8 AM to midnight
  • April 15-16, 2024, from 8 AM (April 15) to 8 AM (April 16)
