Nowadays, rest areas on toll roads are not just a pit stop to stretch your legs after a long drive. Along the Trans Java toll road, some rest areas have been thoughtfully designed and equipped with contemporary snack options, making them a destination in themselves.

 

The Trans Java toll road is the longest toll road network in Indonesia, spanning over 1,167 km. Since its inauguration in 2018, it has become a popular route for travelers commuting to and from their hometowns on the island of Java.

 

If you're planning to use the Trans Java Toll Road, make sure to visit some of these unique rest areas. They're not just places to rest; they offer an experience that you won't forget.

 

7 Must-Visit Unique Rest Areas Along the Trans Java Toll Road

 

 

 

Rest Area KM 57 A Jakarta-Cikampek

 

This rest area has been a favorite among travelers for a long time. It's not just a pit stop for those continuing their journey on the Trans Java Toll Road, it's also a popular rest area for those heading to the Jakarta-Bandung toll road.

 

The tenants in this rest area are almost like a mall, you can find the popular sandwich franchise that is currently in high demand in Indonesia here.

 

Twin Rest Areas KM 456 Semarang-Solo Toll Road

 

True to its name, this rest area consists of two identical pavilion-style rest areas on either side of the road at KM 456 A and KM 456 B. The two rest areas are connected by a sky bridge, creating the appearance of twin rest areas.

 

Bale Nglaras Rest Area KM 487 Semarang-Solo Toll Road

 

Located in Boyolali Regency, the Bale Nglaras Rest Area is hard to miss thanks to the cow statue at its entrance. This area is known for producing cow's milk in Central Java.

 

You can relax on the rooftop and enjoy stunning views of Mount Merapi, Mount Merbabu on the west, and Mount Lawu on the east. The Bale Nglaras Rest Area is split between KM 487 A and KM 487 B, but unlike the Twin Rest Areas, it's not connected by a bridge.

 

 

 

Rest Area KM 575 B Ngawi-Sragen Toll Road

 

This rest area boasts a design and view reminiscent of foreign countries, with a triangular glass building that resembles the Louvre museum in Paris. It's located on a plateau at the foot of Mount Lawu, making for stunning views, especially during sunny mornings and evenings.

 

Rest Area KM 360 B Semarang-Batang Toll Road

 

This rest area has an impressive array of facilities and holds the official title of the rest area with the most facilities according to the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI).

 

Covering 7.6 hectares of land, it features 51 facilities, including various MSME outlets, a restaurant with a garden concept, a playground, and a mini zoo that children will love.

 

There's even a parking area that can accommodate 256 small vehicles and 100 large vehicles. The area is environmentally conscious and equipped with organic and non-organic waste processing facilities.

 

 

 

Rest Area Banjaratnama KM 260 B Pejagan - Pemalang Toll Road

 

This rest area is a must-visit on the Trans Java Toll Road, known for its former sugar factory building characterized by iconic brick wall ruins. Take a moment to read about the history of the sugar factory, which is displayed on one of the walls.

 

The sugar factory complex is spread across 10.5 hectares and is designated as a cultural heritage building, earning it the title of the heritage rest area. There are plenty of Instagram-worthy spots, so make sure to have your phone camera ready.

 

Rest Area KM 88 B Purbaleunyi

 

While not on the main corridor of the Trans Java Toll Road, this rest area is a great option for those traveling from Cileunyi and Bandung to Cikampek.

 

The Al Safar Mosque is the main attraction of this rest area, with its unique folded origami paper-like design. It's not the only highlight, though; the rest area offers complete facilities to rest and recharge.
