Surrounded by mountains and beaches, Lampung has an endless supply of tourist destinations. Situated on the southern tip of the Sumatra island, the region is abundant in natural wonders worth visiting. You can explore the beauty the region nicknamed “Sai Bumi Ruwa Jurai (One Earth, Two Worlds)” has to offer.

Lampung is also widely known as the home to superior robusta beans. The region is so famous that it inspired and became the setting for one of the most talked-about movie of 2015, Filosofi Kopi, followed by its sequel in 2017.

With landscapes to behold, you will want to ensure that Lampung, which is also renowned for its large population of elephants, make the cut onto your travel bucket list.

In the region, you can visit a number of destinations, which surely are the right places to unwind. Want to know more? Here they are.

5 Popular Tourist Attractions in Lampung

Pahawang Island

If you are into some undersea activities, the Pahawang island might be the perfect choice. Covering an area of 700 hectares, the island offers breathtaking underwater scenery. Snorkeling and diving are not to be missed when you are on the island.

If you cannot swim, however, you do not need to worry. You can still enjoy the beautiful shore of the island. The island’s soft white sand and surrounding hills, along with the sound of crashing waves are enough to help you calm your busy mind.

It is also easy to get there. Located 30 kilometers away from the city of Bandar Lampung, you can get to the island with a 30 to 45-minute drive. However, since you willl take many deserted roads to go there, be sure to choose a safe and comfortable means of transportation.

Kiluan Bay

Lampung is also where Kiluan Bay is. Often regarded as one of the hidden gems of Lampung, the bay is set in Kiluan Negeri village in Kelumbayan, Tanggamus.

Kiluan Bay is popular for its awe-inspiring natural features, especially the bordering sea that is still virgin given that it remains largely untouched by tourists. When you visit the bay, you will be surprised by the pleasantly astounding scenery: the water is untaintedly blue with a tint of green.

On top of all that, you can see dolphins swimming and jumping freely in the ocean. You will not find that in the other travel destinations in the region.

However, getting to the place requires extra effort indeed. The bay is located 90 kilometers away from Bandar Lampung, and you have to take long-distance drive that takes approximately 3 hours. Nevertheless, your exhaustion will be paid off once you arrive.

Gigi Hiu Beach

Do not be surprised if you do not find the sand you are expecting when you reach the beach. Indeed, Gigi Hiu Beach is a shore with jagged rocks that predominately cover it, hence the name—”Gigi Hiu”, which is literally “shark teeth” in English, given the sharp rock formation.

The beach is located in Pekon Susuk, Kelumbayan, Tanggamus, 77 kilometers away from Bandar Lampung. For those of you seeking some tranquility, Gigi Hiu Beach is the perfect choice, offering you a place to relax while soothing the mind.

Way Sumpuk Spring

This spring flows to a pond with crystal clear water. If you are looking to jazz up your Instagram profile grid with photos from an Instaworthy spot, this is the right place. With underwater photo spots, the place provides plenty of space to take pictures.

Way Sumpuk Spring is located in Umbul Buah Village in Kota Agung Timur, Tanggamus. Set 11 kilometers away from the heart of Tanggamus Regency in Kota Agung, the place can be reached with a trip that takes around 20 minutes.

Below the surface, you can find a number of photo props, including a tent, a laptop, and other props, all underwater. The place is so unique and you will not find anything like this in other places, particularly around Lampung. If you are planning to visit Lampung, you do not want to miss this place, which is very popular at the moment.

Puncak Mas Park

One of the locals’ favorite places for outings, this amusement park is situated in the region’s hills.

With a name that denotes its setting—”puncak” for “peak of hills”—the destination is set at a high elevation, which enables you to enjoy the whole Bandar Lampung’s cityscape from above.

Calm and breezy, the atmosphere attracts many, who long to take a break from their hectic day-to-day lives. The main part of the park is a vast playground with a fashionable twist. The park has the best spot to immerse yourself in Bandar Lampung’s three best wonders: Lampung Bay, downtown, and the region’s hilly areas.

On top of cheap ticket prices, the park is so accessible. That is why the park is among the most popular destinations in the region.
