Yogyakarta is a destination that never ceases to amaze visitors with an endless array of destinations. One such place is the Glass Terrace, also known by the locals as Teras Kaca, located at Nguluran Beach in Gunung Kidul.

While the Kraton Yogyakarta area has for long been the primary focus of tourism in Yogyakarta, destinations in the province have now spread to other areas such as Sleman, Bantul, and Gunung Kidul.

If you're planning a trip to Yogyakarta, be sure to include a visit to the Teras Kaca at Nguluran Beach on your bucket list. This hit place has many cool photo spots with its uniqueness, of course, the transparent glass terrace on the cliff lip.

From this spot, you can capture stunning shots with the seemingly endless expanse of the Indonesian ocean as your backdrop.

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at Teras Kaca on your trip to Yogyakarta because there are plenty of reasons why this destination should be at the top of your list.

3 things you need to know before visiting the Glass Terrace at Nguluran Beach

Admission to the Glass Terrace at Nguluran Beach ranges from IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 depending on the package you choose.

If you just want to revel in the atmosphere and snap some photos at the iconic Glass Terrace, you can opt for the basic package. But if you want to enjoy all the rides and activities, then the complete package is the way to go.

Instagrammable Photo Spots at Teras Kaca

Full of exciting and instagrammable photo spots, the destination itself offers at least 11 rides or spots that make for memorable and share-worthy shots. The most iconic of these is the Glass Terrace.

This thick, transparent acrylic platform is installed on the edge of a cliff, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. For safety reasons, the Glass Terrace can only accommodate a maximum of 3 people at a time.

But don't worry because you can still take photos with your entire group on the terrace, and the staff at Teras Kaca will help you get the best shots. Just remember to remove your shoes before posing on the Glass Terrace.

While you wait your turn at the Glass Terrace, you can also pose for a moment in front of the Giant Door. This pink door will remind you of Doraemon's “Anywhere Door” and makes for a fun and unique photo op.

Another must-see is The Blue Paradise, with its colorful bean bags that give your photos a strong beachy vibe. These three spots are included in the basic package, which also includes the Glass Boat, Sea Horse, and Giant Chair rides.

For an even more exciting experience, go for the complete package, which includes the Jogja Swing and Ngopi on the Sea.

The Jogja Swing is a gigantic swing installed on the edge of a cliff, perfect for those who crave an adrenaline rush. And Ngopi on the Sea is a set of benches and tables above a hydraulic system, offering a unique and elevated spot to pose for coffee or tea while enjoying the beach breeze.

Far From City Center

Located outside the center of Yogyakarta City, the Glass Terrace at Nguluran Beach in Gunung Kidul takes extra effort to reach. The distance is about 45 km, and you can get there in between 90 minutes to 2 hours.

It's best to come in the morning by the time they open at 9 a.m. to avoid the scorching daytime sun, or visit in the afternoon before the Glass Terrace closes at 5 p.m.

If you want to catch the sunset at the edge of the cliff, you can visit a nearby spot called HeHa Sky View, which is open until 9 pm.

Just be careful when driving back to the Nguluran Beach area after dark, as the roads in this area can be winding and have minimal street lighting. Always drive with caution and allow extra time for your journey.
