5 Facts about Solo Safari Tours

The Evolution from Taru Jurug Animal Park to Solo Safari

Interestingly, Solo Safari isn't a brand-new attraction for the locals of Solo; it has a rich history as one of the oldest zoos in Indonesia.

Before undergoing a revitalization and reorganization process, which led to its renaming, it was known as Taru Jurug Animal Park (TSTJ), Jurug Park, or Jurug Zoo.

Although its management remains under the Taru Jurug Animal Park Regional Public Company (Perumda TSTJ), there's now a collaborative effort with Taman Safari Indonesia.

Navigating Your Way to Solo Safari

Nestled at Jalan. Ir. Sutami No.109 Kentingan, Jebres, in Surakarta City, Central Java, Solo Safari is conveniently situated not far from the UNS Campus.

If you have plans to explore the area from Puro Mangkunegaran to Klewer Market, a short drive of less than 30 minutes will lead you to this 13.9-hectare zoo.

Solo Safari also emerges as an interesting stop for travelers visiting Yogyakarta or Semarang, or those going on a road trip across the island of Java.

From Yogyakarta, a journey of around 2 hours will bring you to Solo Safari, while starting from Semarang, a drive of less than 2 hours via the Semarang-Solo toll road is all it takes to reach the place.

Ticket Pricing and Operational Hours at Solo Safari

The admission fee to Solo Safari is quite reasonable, especially considering the revitalization, the amenities and facilities provided, and the conservation efforts it supports.

On weekdays, the standard ticket prices range from IDR 45,000 to IDR 55,000, while on weekends and holidays, they are slightly higher, ranging from IDR 60,000 to IDR 75,000. Children's tickets apply to youngsters aged 2 to 6 years or those with a maximum height of 120cm.

For those who seek a more comfortable experience, premium tickets are available between IDR 65,000 to IDR 100,000. These premium tickets come with added perks compared to standard admission, including a welcome drink, souvenirs, access to the premium area at Mekunde Bistro, and buggy car service to the exit.

Solo Safari welcomes visitors every day from 08:30 to 16:30, and opens its gates a bit earlier at 08:00 on weekends. Be sure to plan your visit during these hours to fully enjoy all the experiences awaiting you.
