5 Things About Aquarium Indonesia Pangandaran

Located in the PPI Cikidang Area, Pangandaran

The Indonesian Aquarium is located in Babakan Village in Pangandaran and can be reached in just a 15-minute drive from the popular Pangandaran Beach area. It's part of the Cikidang Fish Landing Harbor Complex (PPI).

Admission Fee and Operational Hours

Visiting the Indonesian Aquarium won't break the bank! As it is an educational facility meant to be enjoyed by many, for only IDR 50,000, you can learn and experience the amazing marine life it has to offer.

For its operating hours, Aquarium Indonesia is open every day. Monday - Friday it is open from 09.00 - 16.00, and 08.30 - 16.30 on weekends.

Currently, public enthusiasm for Aquarium Indonesia is still quite high. It is best to come during weekdays or in the morning so that you can be more satisfied exploring this tourist attraction which was inaugurated in December 2022.

Home To The Longest Sunken Aquarium

The Indonesian Aquarium has four different types of tanks for you to explore, each with its own unique features.

There's the Schooling Fish Cylinder Tank, which is a giant cylindrical aquarium that's 7 meters tall and 5 meters in diameter. This tank is home to schools of fish that swim together in harmony.

Next up is the sunken aquarium or Curved Aquarium, which is 47 meters long and holds a whopping 500,000 liters of water.

This is one you definitely don't want to miss! And if you're looking for something extra special, be sure to check out the main aquarium or main fish tank. This tank has an extra-long 33-meter window, and it's where the daily feeding fish show takes place.

Last but not least, there's the Touch Pool. This is where you can get up close and personal with marine life, so it's a great place to take your kids. Get ready to make some new friends with the animals in the Touch Pool!

Besides the aquarium, this place is also home to the Mother Spice Museum, which is just as unique as the rest of the aquarium.

At the museum, you can learn all about Indonesian maritime history, and see some amazing treasures that have been recovered from the depths of the Indonesian sea.

Feeding Show Schedule at the Aquarium Indonesia

Every day, the divers at Aquarium Indonesia perform feeding shows for the marine animals in the main tank.

There are two feeding times, at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, so be sure to be at the main window of the aquarium before those hours to catch all the action.

Formerly Named PIAMARI

For the locals of Pangandaran, the Aquarium Indonesia might not be a thing now. It was formerly known as the Pangandaran Integrated Aquarium and Marine Research Institute (PIAMARI), owned by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. The development of this place began in 2017.

So, now that you know all these interesting facts, are you excited to visit the Indonesian Aquarium? It's definitely one of the most affordable options among the big aquariums in Indonesia, so it's a great choice for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy a fun and educational day out without breaking the bank.

Aside from Aquarium Indonesia, Pangandaran also offers a variety of other tourist attractions. For example, the Pangandaran Beach area boasts both white sand and black sand beaches, and Batu Karas Beach is a popular spot for surfers both locally and internationally. Another must-see destination is the Green Canyon tour, where you can admire its breathtaking cliffs.

However, there is currently no toll road that directly connects Pangandaran with the surrounding big cities. From Jakarta, Pangandaran can be reached in about 8 hours by driving through the Cipali toll road. While from Bandung and Yogyakarta, it takes at least 5 hours of travel.

Although it feels far, the travel time is certainly not a big obstacle. You can travel using car rental services to be more comfortable while enjoying the trip.
