This year's celebration, also known as Mayfest 2024 or 'Surabaya's Most Festive Month of the Year', promises more than a month of festivities. The anniversary celebration brings together various segments of the community in the City of Heroes.

The city government, businesses, private sector, and numerous community groups are all participating to make this event memorable.

Surabaya's Birthday Series Started in April

The celebrations for Surabaya's 731st Anniversary actually began in April, starting with the Surabaya Shopping Festival (SSF) from April 15 to May 14, 2024.

This event was held early to coincide with the festive Ramadan period and the 2024 Eid holiday, helping to set the stage for the 731st HJKS.

The Iconic Rujak Uleg Festival

Surabaya's anniversary celebration wouldn't be complete without the iconic Rujak Uleg Festival. This event isn't just about making and eating rujak together; it's also a colorful spectacle featuring festival participants in a variety of interesting costumes.

This year, the Rujak Uleg Festival will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Surabaya City Hall. This is a change from previous years, when the event was held at Kya-Kya Kembang Jepun.

Flower and Cultural Parade in Surabaya Vaganza

This is one event that many people in Surabaya eagerly anticipate. In previous years, thousands have flocked to the streets to watch the largest float parade in Surabaya.

This year, the parade participants will greet residents from the Heroes Monument to Surabaya City Square on May 26.

Don't Miss the Music Concerts and Folk Entertainment

No birthday celebration is complete without entertainment. Several music concerts are scheduled for Surabaya's 731st Anniversary at various venues.

Surabaya Pestapora, or the Beachside Festival, will be held from May 21-26, 2024, at THP Kenjeran (next to Suroboyo Bridge). Surabaya Jazz Week (Jazz'no Suroboyo) will take place at Tunjungan Plaza Mall from May 25 to June 6. The highlight of HJKS 731 will be a music concert at City Hall on June 7, 2024.

Community Competitions and Sports Events

The Surabaya City government hasn't forgotten the proverb "Mens sana in corpore sano," which means "a healthy mind in a healthy body." Various competitions and sports events are part of the 731st anniversary celebrations.

Inter-district Futsal and PERWOSI Volleyball competitions will take place throughout the month of May, bringing excitement and community spirit to the festivities.
