School holidays are right around the corner. Instead of letting the kids spend all day glued to screens, why not take them somewhere that gets them moving, learning, and interacting?
If you live in or are visiting the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), there are plenty of fun and educational destinations right in your backyard. To help you out, TRAC has rounded up five exciting spots perfect for a family day out.
Rediscover this classic destination with a fresh twist. TMII has been revamped, and it’s more engaging than ever.
Kids can explore Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through traditional houses from different provinces and visit museums like the Transportation Museum, Sports Museum, and even the Komodo and Reptile Park.
For science-loving kids, don’t miss the Indonesia Science Center (formerly PP IPTEK), where they can get hands-on with interactive exhibits and learn basic physics, chemistry, and biology in a fun, approachable way.
Let your kids step into the shoes of professionals at KidZania. This mini city lets them become doctors, pilots, chefs, police officers, even news anchors. They can also make and take home items like snacks and instant noodles in themed activities.
The whole experience teaches kids about responsibility, teamwork, and money management through its unique “Kidzos” currency system.
Managed by Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Animalium offers an immersive way to learn about the animal kingdom.
It features life-size replicas, interactive touchscreen exhibits, and a variety of live animals, including birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects.
This nature-based educational farm is a popular destination for school field trips, and for good reason. Kids can interact with farm animals like goats, cows, and rabbits, try their hand at milking, plant vegetables, and learn about the life cycle of plants.
It’s a peaceful spot with fresh air and open space, ideal for kids who don’t often get to experience the countryside. Parents can also unwind while joining the fun.
Looking for an indoor spot that’s both fun and educational? Head to BXSea. Spread across 7,000 square meters, this marine-themed attraction features saltwater and freshwater aquariums, plus terrariums.
Its star attraction is a 35-meter glass tunnel, Southeast Asia’s longest, where visitors can feel like they’re walking beneath the sea. There’s also a 7.5-meter-high aquarium window that recreates the vibrant reefs of Raja Ampat.
Because it’s inside a mall, BXSea is also a great fallback when the weather doesn’t cooperate. After exploring the aquatic exhibits, families can grab a meal or shop without leaving the venue.
Family outings take planning, especially if you’re hitting multiple spots in one day. To make things smoother and more comfortable, consider using TRAC’s Jakarta car rental service.
TRAC offers a wide range of well-maintained, family-friendly vehicles. You can opt for a self-drive car rental in Jakarta or let a professional driver take the wheel so you can focus on the fun.
Booking is easy. Just head to the TRAC website or download the TRACtoGo app from Google Play or the App Store.
