The Trans-Java toll road rest areas are favorite break locations. Because, it's become an open secret that many people choose to use a car when they return to their hometowns. In fact, this year’s Eid is predicted to increase the number of travelers using private cars compared to last year.
As the region with the largest population density in Indonesia, the island of Java has become the biggest destination for travelers as Eid arrives. It’s estimated that more than 120 million people will return home to several areas in West Java, Central Java, as well as East Java.
One of the favorite access points for travelers is, of course, the Trans-Java toll road. With a distance of 1.150 kilometers, the Trans Java toll road stretches from Merak, Banten all the way to Banyuwangi, East Java.
With a large number of travelers and the majority of them using private cars, traffic congestion on toll roads is to be expected. And it can surely make the travelers tired throughout the journey.
There are at least 88 rest areas on theTrans-Java toll road that the travelers can use as a place for taking a break. These rest areas are divided into three types based on the distance and available facilities.
Rest areas under this type are those available on routes 50 kilometers long with at least one rest area per route.
Rest area type A is, at minimum, 20 kilometers from the next one, and only 10 kilometers from the type B rest area.
Rest areas on the inter-city toll road have a road length of more than 30 kilometers. It also has a minimum distance of 10 kilometers from the next rest area.
This rest area is only 2 kilometers away from those under type A & B, and other type C. Rest area type C only operates during long holidays such as Eid Al-Fitr, Christmas, and New Year.
The following is a complete list of rest areas you can visit when passing the Trans-Java toll road. Among them are 25 type A rest areas, the rest being type B and type C rest areas.
Rest Area Type A: At Km 42 and 68 towards Merak, and Km 68 and 45 towards Jakarta.
Rest Area Type A: At Km 13 towards Tangerang and Km 14 towards Jakarta.
Towards Cikampek: 3 type A rest areas at Km 19, 40, and 57. 2 type B rest areas at Km 33 and 50. 4 type C rest areas at Km 18, 25, 41, and 59.
Towards Jakarta: At Km 6, 42, and 62 are type A rest areas, while at Km 32, 52, and 71 are type B rest areas. Rest areas 2 type C rest areas are at Km 34 and 58.
Type A rest areas are at Km 102 and 166, while type B rest areas are at Km 86 and 130. This rest area is on the route towards Palimanan.
On the route to Cikampek, there are type A rest areas at Km 101 and 164 and type B rest areas at Km 86 and 130.
Rest Area type A is at Km 207 towards Kanci and at Km 208 towards Palimanan.
Type A rest areas are available at Km 228 towards Pejagan and Km 229 towards Kanci.
Type B rest area is at Km 252 and 275 towards Pemalang. There’s also rest area type A at Km 293 and type B at Km 282 towards Pejagan.
Rest areas B and C are available at Km 391 and 379, respectively, towards Semarang. There’s also rest area type C Km 360 and 389 towards Batang.
There’s only one rest area, a type B rest area at Km 5.
Type A rest area is at Km 429, and type C is at Km 458 and 487 towards Solo.
Two rest areas type A are available at Km 519 and 575, and type B at Km 538 towards Semarang.

There are two type B rest areas at Km 678 and Km 695 in both directions.
Type A rest area at Km 725 towards Surabaya and Km 726 towards Mojokerto.
Type A rest area at Km 26 towards Gempol, and Km 25 towards Surabaya
There are two type C rest areas at Km 792 in both directions.
Two type C rest areas are available at Km 819 towards Probolinggo and Km 833 towards Pasuruan.
